another loop around the sun

Oh, Sweet cheeks,

I went back and read last year's birthday letter to you and here I am tearing up again. I have enough tears and love for the both of us for some time to come. Both you and Brown Mouse commented how surprising it felt to be here in September all over again. Wasn't it just your last birthday?

I feel a steadying in you as you tiptoe toward your 14th trip around the sun. While you have always exuded confidence, now you express a curiosity about yourself and a comfort in being unique, for which I am so grateful and in such awe. Let those wings spread, girl. Your spirit is shining. You are aware of your strengths and limitations and are so much better now at catching yourself, so your strength can be what bubbles over.

Autumn with its season of crispness, color, and fresh starts is so fitting for you, my earthly girl, who loves orange, your hand knit hats, and soccer season. You haven't grown out of any of last year's loves. Dance, soccer, American Girl, knitting, crafting, reading, swinging, and Eeyore are all still beloved, but your world has expanded to include other soccer loving Goats and a club of kids who share the AG love. Lucky you. Lucky us.

I love you, Lala Bug. I am so grateful to have you as one of my greatest life coaches.

Love, Mamma

p.s. Serendipitously, the guest post I wrote for Amber's Hearth Magic blog posted today!
